The is not the tale of the life and death of a king, nor a
clever comment on modern pop culture, nor a cry for attention
and recognition. John Darnielle bryr seg ikke om Eivind Kirkeby
(John Darnielle doesn't care about Eivind Kirkeby)
is instead a collection of subpar cover songs and the odd subparer
original piece, divided into two easily downloadable parts. Truly
a testament to the wonders of the internet.
All vocals and instruments by Eivind Kirkeby, except for the guitar
on "Sometimes I Still Feel The Bruise", played by Mads
Meskalin; guitar and co-vocals on "Rocketroll" by Stian
Skandsen; and the instrumental piece "Anonym På Orgel",
which was performed by the great anonymous.
On this collection you will hear a Casio SA-35 keyboard, a Yamaha
83 B-4BR Electone electronic organ, and a piano in need of tuning.
Most tracks recorded using a Cowon iAUDIO U2, some recorded using
a generic computer microphone by Creative. The songs are copyrighted
their respective writers and labels and no one will be making
any money off of this. Which is a shame.
For an optimal listening experience, listen during the evening
or night while going for a stroll using headphones. Best enjoyed
in small doses, so at the very least take a break between the
two parts. Why not take the time to contemplate God's existence
or lack thereof, read through the first book of David Hume's "A
Treatise Of Human Nature", or get some housework done?
This is the second collection of songs released by The Society
of Poor Academics, released on the 20. December 2006. |
